Living with a rare disease can create many challenges – accessing education shouldn’t be one of them.

To support people living with rare disease while navigating obstacles to education, we have partnered with the EveryLife Foundation for Rare Diseases to establish the #RAREis Scholarship Fund. The program will provide a one-time scholarship grant of $5,000 to pursue educational enrichment opportunities, including accredited courses, trade programs and two-and four-year degrees. Awards will be provided to 32 recipients for the Spring 2021 semester.

Scholarships are open to any adult living with a rare disease in the U.S. who is over the age of 17. Individuals may apply for the 2020 #RAREis Scholarship Fund through RareScholarship.org. The application deadline is August 28 at 3 p.m. CT.

Scholarships will be awarded based on the completion of a short essay as well as consideration of the applicant’s leadership, participation in school and rare disease community activities, work experience, academic performance and financial needs. Awardees will be notified in October. The EveryLife Foundation will manage the scholarship application process, selection process and distribution of funds independent of Horizon input. All scholarship recipients will be selected by an EveryLife Foundation-appointed, independent board of reviewers.
